Are Expensive Beauty Items Worth The Splurge?

As a girl who is into affordable fashion and accessories, beauty is one place where I’m willing to splurge. I find that when it comes to beauty items like moisturizer and primer the luxury brands show their difference in quality. I have tried many drug store brands like Maybelline, Loreal and Rimmel, I have noticed that when it comes to skin care, I prefer the higher end brands. I will be creating a separate video on the different drug store items that I think are totally worth the buy, but for this one I wanted to focus on what’s worth the splurge!

Summer Fridays

Image result for summer fridays

I actually have been wanting to try Summer Fridays for the longest time, I kept hearing about how amazing it is from difference influencers and knowing that two bloggers are behind it, I knew there had to be a reason for the hype. I decided to get a sample size from Sephora (highly recommended) to test it out. I love that Sephora offers that option to its customers. From the second day, I was hooked! I know this is supposed to be a mask but with the cold weather, I decided to use it as a moisturizer. I have very oily skin, so I try and stay away from anything that makes my skin look even more oily. Right away I started to noticed how it was making my skin feel hydrated without looking oily. I also use it as an overnight mask which made my skin feels soft and dewy the next day. So if there’s any item I would highly recommend, it is that! It’s definitely worth the hype and I was not disappointed!

Smash Box Eye Shadow Primer

I love wearing eye shadow and experimenting with different colours. However, I noticed that due to my oily skin, it would be gone within a few short hours. I decided to try the 24 Hour SmashBox Eye shadow primer. I tested it out different ways (on top of concealer, on top of eye cream and naked eye). I found that the best results came when I put it on top of my eye cream. I usually let a couple of minute pass while my skin soaks up my eye cream, and then put the primer on. They recommend waiting at least 60 seconds before putting anything else on, so I begin with my foundation while I let that dry.  Once I have my eye shadow on, I am good to go for an entire work day.

Dr. Brandt Primer

I found this primer as recommended by Sona (@sonagasparian), I notice that we have the same skin complexion and after the first time of trying it, I’ve never gone back. I use this primer every day before my foundation. I notice that not only does it make my skin smoother, but it also makes my pores smaller! It also sets my foundation nicely for long hours. During the summer time I bring it with me to touch up my skin if it gets too oily! It soaks the oil right in without over drying it.

Smashbox Eye Shadow

For the longest time I would only use drug store eye shadow and never liked the pigmentation.  They mostly fell under my eye rather than staying on my eyelids. They were also hard to blend in. I’ve tried many different brands from Maybelline to AnnaBell and Loreal, however the one brand that kept on sticking out to me was Smashbox, I love their palettes and find that the colours are shimmery and matte which can be blended to create a beautiful look. My favourite palette is Petal Metal. Each palett is highly pigmented with gorgeous colours which allows you to go from day to night time.

Too Faced Eye Shadow- Limited Edition

Too Faced - Tickled Peach Mini Eyeshadow Palette

This Too Faced Special Edition Eye Shadow Palette was a gift, however I have to say.. I LOVE IT! The shadow itself is super soft and they are highly pigmented as well. The shades in the palette are mainly golden and peachy tones with shimmer and a couple of matte colours. I would recommend this for the summer time or if you’re thinking of going on vacation as it would look beautiful with a sun kissed glow. I also like that they have a darker shade which can be used to create a day to night look!

Pixie

Pixi Beauty, Skin Treats, Best of Rose, 3 Piece Kit

Although I know Pixie is still a drugstore item, they are a little bit more expensive than the other well known brands. I decided to try their travel size Rose Face Cleanser, Rose Tonic Toner and the famous Rose Balm! I actually really liked the face cleanser, it made my face feel refreshed. The toner is also refreshing and makes my skin feel extra clean. I was mostly excited about the rose balm, as it is meant to give your face a flash of hydration. However, compared to the Summer Fridays, my skin felt more oily and not as hydrated. I was disappointed that it wasn’t as good as I thought it would be. Although I would recommend the cleanser and toner, I have to say the Rose Flash Balm didn’t live up its standards.

Gisou

Honey Infused Hair Oil 3.4 fl.oz.

I am going to be doing a whole IGTV/YOUTUBE video on my thoughts about this product… is it really worth $200 or not!

IT cosmetic CC+ Cream

IT Cosmetics - Your Skin But Better CC+ Cream with SPF 50+ Fair Light 1.08 oz/ 32 mL

This has easily become my favourite CC cream. It literally feels like my skin, but better! It is easy to put on and can be used to build up. The coverage can be light to medium, I also  find that it is not too heavy on my face. It blends in really nice and feels smooth. My skin is very oily as I have mentioned before but this CC cream gives me a matte finish which I love! I can’t say enough about how good this CC cream is!

Beauty Bioscience: GloPRO®

There’s been a lot of buzz around microneedling and its benefits for glowing and youthful skin. I recently got the opportunity to collaborate with TSC to try the GloPRO® LIP Edition microneedling tool bundle! If you’re not familiar with TSC, they are a Canadian retailer focusing on fashion, beauty and home. You can visit their website here. They offer brand names with daily specials! One of their beauty brand is “Beauty Bioscience” which is the creator of GloPRO®. Beauty Bioscience has been featured in Vogue, Allure and The New York Times for their beauty products.
It is Beauty Bioscience’s one year anniversary at TSC and to celebrate, they are offering a limited edition GloPRO® LIP edition Microneedling Regeneration Tool bundle (linked here). The offer goes live at 10 PM EST on Friday August 24th!
So, if you’re wondering.. what is microneedling? It is a tool that has tiny little needles which stimulates the skin to use its own collagen for glowing skin while reducing the appearance of fine lines. The GloPRO®LIP edition microneedling tool bundle includes an additional head to be used around the lips.

My First Impression
The video of me trying the GloPRO® for the first time is saved on my Instagram Highlights linked here. The process was not painful and I only felt it the most on my forehead. Afterwards my face was a bit red but went away after I put on my serum and moisturizer. I ended up going out for coffee 10 minutes after, and my friend commented on how my skin is glowing and I was shocked to hear that! She also had no idea that I just used the GloPRO®! So I was very impressed after my first try.
How to Use ItI began by washing my face using the PH balancing cleanser by Beauty Bioscience. I like that it clears off most of my make up without irritating my eyes. I wear contacts so I’m always conscious of my cleansers and make up removers.
Next, I used the GloPRO®  skin prep pads. They are similar to a toner to remove any remaining make up while prepping the skin.
Then I used the regular Microtip attachment head to go over my face, and used the Lip attachment for my lip and chin area. You are to go over the desired areas in different directions (vertical, horizontal and diagonal) repeating it 3-4 times.
Once I was all done, I put my serum on followed by my moisturizers.
Two Weeks Update
I have used the GloPRO® for two weeks now, 4 times all together. What I noticed the most is how my skin feels the next day. It feels so soft and I can definitely see the glow. I also noticed the fine lines on my forehead are more filled in and less noticeable than before. I am going to continue to use it for another 3 weeks and write a 1 month update on this blog post.

Don’t forget that the lip attachment is a special edition and available through TSC, I have linked it here. If you have any other questions, don’t be shy to email me or message me on Instagram! I love hearing from my followers.

Viviscal Gorgeous Growth

It’s no secret I’m obsessed with voluminous hair and with my Persian background, I’ve got lots of hair to give me the luscious curls I always dream of. Howeverrrr in order to get my hair looking full at the top, I have to use hair spray, dry shampoo and texturizing spray. My hair tends to stick to my scalp and needs a lot of teasing to make it look full.

I’m always searching to finding a shampoo that would help lift my hair and allow my natural hair to look fuller. I recently got the opportunity to try the Viviscal Gorgeous Growth as a PR gift from The Publicist Group and ended up loving it! I have to say I’m usually very skeptical about trying beauty items that promise “fuller” anything! But this shampoo and conditioner definitely did not fail me.
The first week I started noticing how my hair is light and fluffy without any extra products. Following that, I was noticing more hair in the areas where I was losing hair (due to too much hairspray and such). After 4 weeks it has become part of my weekly routine. I also really like how the conditioner doesn’t weigh my hair down but still does the job of making my hair smooth and soft. I even got my mom to try it out as she has very fine hair. I will update this post in about a month from her reviews and what she thinks of it! Below are the links to shop the shampoo and conditioner.

Is there a trick you have for fuller looking hair? Comment below and let me know!

Spring Beauty Review

Spring time means changing routines, waking up early, enjoying the sun and being able to look cute and put together again (for the last 4 months I’ve been rocking hat hair and thick layers).
One of the things I enjoy about spring is going back to my regular make up routine.  Since during winter I usually just wear mascara or no make-up at all.

With that said, I’m not a crazy make up girl. I can say I’ve only been to Sephora once (shocking, I know! ). I just got so overwhelmed and left the store after 10 seconds lol

However, that didn’t stop me from hunting for good quality make up and at a reasonable price. I  decided to try H&M, I love their clothes why not try their make up! Annndddd drum roll please…. I’m in love! Especially with the shimmery eye shadows. I’m currently using Chin Chin and Gala Gown. I’ll do a follow up post showing you some of my make up looks!

(not my picture)

I also love NYX. I have been wearing their “Ibiza” matte lipstick since the summer time; it’s my absolute go-to colour. I have a few of their shadows and even after a year they are still soft and useable!

(not my picture)

Another brand I’m into these days is ELF, however  I have to say I tried using their under eye concealer and I wasn’t too impressed so I was iffy about using their primer but I did my research and heard so many good things. I love how smooth it is while giving my foundation a matte look and making it last longer.

(not my picture)

For under eye concealer I actually use Maybelline. It does cover for most parts, however these days I’m needing A WHOLE lot of coverage between working 9-5 and then blogging 5-12 am lol (the struggle is real people). So I’m on a hunt for a new concealer! If you have any suggestions comment below!

Update: my friend promised to walk me through Sephora to help take the anxiety away so I will create a part 2 about my finds!

No Heat Curls

A few weeks ago, a friend of mine showed me how to create curls without using any heat! I tried it once and I was hooked. I especially love how I can twist my hair, go to bed and wake up with perfect curls for work!

Follow this link to see the video and here is the step by step:

  1. Towel dry your hair, then let it air dry for 10-15 minutes. If your hair is too wet it will NOT work (If you don’t have time to air dry it, then blast it with blow dry for 10 seconds).
  2. Split your hair at the back and then into 2 sections on each side.
  3. Start twisting your hair away from your face. Twist is as hard as you can. Then use a hair tie and a clip to keep it away from your face while you do the other section.
  4. Take the first section and second section and twist them into each other, however make sure you are twisting it AWAY from your face.
  5. Continue by doing the other side of your head.
  6. Either sleep on your hair, or let it dry for at least an hour.
  7. When you undo your hair it may still be wet, but after a few minutes as it dries the curls will become more bouncy.
  8. Hair spray your hair and tease it at the top if needed!

Tadaaaa!!! There you have it 8 easy steps to save you time and prevent your hair from getting damaged while having curls that look like you’ve used a curling iron!
